ABOUT

Ben is a freelance lighting technician based in Kent specialising in operation, programming and design. After helping out in all departments for his school production, mainly in the lighting department helping design and operate, Ben soon discovered his passion for lighting. soon after that he was given the job role of lead student technician for the school. He is currently taking an A level course to get the Cambridge Technical Qualification after the course.

Ben is a young theatre enthusiast, who has previously raised money for his school theatre to help buy a new microphone system. He is currently in Sixth Form in Year 13 studying music technical courses and mainly the drama technical course and a business course.

Alongside this, Ben is working as a freelancer, helping to rig on small jobs such as helping rig for Legally Blonde in 2023 at the EM Forster Theatre in Tonbrigde. Also having worked on various shows within the school theatre such as his most recent show of Les Miserables JR being one of the sole designers and operators for the show.

Also working for two days on work experience on different TV shows and doing lots of other smaller jobs to help to build up his experience, helping rig and de-rig for shows. Working with different theatre rigs and systems and being able to work comfortably with others to build up his experience within the lighting industry. Also learning more about the industry and learning about other styles of designers.
