About
Ben is a freelance lighting technician based in Kent specialising in lighting operation, programming and design. After working in the technical theatre department for over 5 years, working internally for Towers School and Sixth Form Centre and externally for projects across Kent and beyond, Ben discovered his passion for working behind the scenes particularly in the lighting department. Ben, the Lead Student Technical for the Rylance Theatre, Ashford, is currently undergoing a Cambridge Technical qualification in stage lighting to propel his expertise and experience

Skills, Knowledge and Training
Design For
Ben has experience lighting live events including: Parties, Plays, Musicals, Pantomimes, TV and non-traditional performance locations.
Lighting Design
Trained in lighting design via methods of: Hand drawn plots and CAD systems including Vector Works 2024 Spotlight Suit
Programming
For both internal and external projects, Ben's experience and training covers the use of lighting consoles: GrandMA 2&3, Zero88, Avolite and ETC Eos
Operation
Ben has worked on live projects with both cued and uncued operations as well as manually operated follow spots.
Rigging
Ben has experience in rigging from all levels (including up a ladder) and can work to any plot design.
